About Eyad

I graduated from Faculty of Dentistry with distinction with honours, and worked for one year as a GP dentist. I then started my MSc in Regenerative Dentistry at King's College London in 2020, where I learnt about molecular biology and regenerative medicine. I moved on to work with genetics for one year then proteomics for another year at King's College London as a Senior Research Technician. Now I have moved to my PhD position at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and University College London, studying susceptibility to diseases using bioinformatics. I am a very friendly guy and I struggled to get to where I am, so I know how hard it can be to understand the scientific language, and I learnt approaches to how you can learn it too.

About the class

Bioinformatics can be very daunting in the beginning, without seeing what you can achieve with it, and without understanding the language itself. My approach to teaching programming languages (R and Python) involves (1) showing you practically what you can achieve once you learn it, as means of motivation and putting things into perspective. And (2) teaching you the grammar of the language, so you know what each syntax does.
