About Alexandra

I am a highly sensitive empath with a history of physical and emotional abuse, having grown up in a narcissistic family system with reckless boundary violating patterns. From a very early age, was very much attracted to spirituality, singing, auras, magic, art and astrology. However, I wasn't allowed to follow such "nonsensical" passions. Instead, I was strictly encouraged to pursue architecture, but quit after two years of intense struggles to fit in. Having secretly enrolled into a drama program, I ended up finishing both a Bachelor and a Master's Degree in Theatrical Studies, although I was not feeling my best on stage, being marred by anxiety and panic attacks. During that time, unwillingly, deep inner work started taking place. Initially, with a sudden diet change - stopped eating meat and resorted to raw foods, followed by a lifechanging Vipassana retreat. Slowly, I immersed myself into deeper meditation practices, discovered the path of yoga by reading old hindu texts and considerably expanded in awareness by constant experimentation with different acting techniques meant for freeing the bodymind. All these little pieces ignited a powerful deconditioning process that culminated in a spontaneous shamanic crisis somewhere around 2018. Shortly after, I travelled to India where I completed two Yoga Teacher Trainings (Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Yin) and started exploring with various teaching methodologies.
Nowadays, I teach Yoga and I am on a lookout for the best way to integrate all the different modalities that I've been introduced to, without losing the essence of the ancients. I am aware, probably most aware, that we are constantly changing, dancing and evolving, and that what worked once may not work again. This is why I customize everything and, as much as possible, invite the natural unfolding to take its course. The body and mind are naturally wired to heal and, most of the time, our incessant planning and doing inhibit this process.

Every class is a unique blend of intuitive synchronicity. No class is ever the same. This is because I tend to sense whatever it is that is needed in the moment, as opposed to following a strict regimen. Even though there is a bit of planning ahead, I usually receive information while in direct connection. I always found the discipline involved in teaching yoga to be forceful and violent. The life force in the body is its own universe and yoga is a process that awakens and liberates it from the shakles of rigid thinking. It is not meant to mold even more the life force, but to set it free. I couldn't comprehend why it is being commercialized like this mostly everywhere, even though one of the pillars of yogic phylosophy is ahimsa - nonviolence.
Classes are 90 minutes long, with an emphasis on conscious breath, releasing tension and deepening into stillness.
Modalities used: movement-breath synchronicity, somatic awareness, grounding passive poses, strength building drills, intuitive pose alignment (discovering the pose from within instead of achieving the image of the pose), breathwork, mindfulness.
