Oxford graduate (BA Hons, MA Oxon) teaches English Literature to ambitious A level students.

Whilst my time with Eileen was short (just my final A level year), I can assure you that she significantly helped my Classics. She is kind and intelligent and was brimming with notes to support me for my exams. Each lesson I chose the topic I was struggling with most and she catered the lesson to it; this was extremely helpful as it not only quickly plugged my biggest academic gaps but gave me the confidence to tackle all manner of questions. I would highly recommend Eileen to anyone studying Classics, English or Humanities subjects in general, as her grasp of teaching efficiently and thoughtfully is of the highest degree. It was a joy to have lessons with her and I miss our chats greatly!

Eileen is a supportive and helpful tutor who is always willing to help her students. She helped me understand the Ancient Greek language and with her help I was able to get a 1st in Greek in my first year of University. Eileen also goes beyond a surface level understanding and provides the context of what is being studied, which has been very helpful in understanding both Ancient Greek and Ancient Greek literature.

Eileen is an absolutely outstanding tutor and one I would wholeheartedly recommend. She has a wonderful ability to inspire students, develop their enthusiasm for the subject, and bring out their full potential. Her teaching methods are effective, engaging and tailored to the student’s needs, helping them build both confidence and achieve excellent results.

My daughter achieved Grade 9 in both GCSE English Language and English Literature, and we are absolutely delighted with the results. We are very grateful for her dedication and excellent teaching. I would highly recommend her to any student looking to improve their ability and achieve their best.

From the first lesson, Eileen brought incredible warmth and approachability, putting our son at ease and creating a safe space where he felt comfortable asking questions. Managing lessons across time zones and fitting them around extracurricular activities can be challenging, but Eileen was always flexible, adapting to our changing schedule, technology glitches and occasionally inhospitable hours with ease and good humour. Eileen drew on her broad knowledge of history, connecting our son's Latin to his Ancient History studies, giving him a deeper understanding of both subjects. She encouraged him to read widely and was always ready to discuss his interests, often beyond her remit as a Latin tutor. As parents, we appreciated her clear and thoughtful feedback, which kept us well informed about our son's progress. Eileen's interest in our son's academic journey didn't end with final exams. After high school, she remained a generous sounding board as he transitioned into tertiary studies.

Eileen is an educator who genuinely cares about her students' long-term success and happiness. We cannot recommend her highly enough.

Eileen is an outstanding tutor.
We contacted her as our son was struggling with Ancient Greek language in the first year of his degree. So much so that it was taking up a huge amount of time away from his other topics and creating a very stressful situation.
Eileen had an immediate positive impact and the sessions made a huge difference. Our son has kept the sessions going and was able to progress onto Advanced Ancient Greek in the second year which he also passed. He now has sessions with Eileen on Greek Theatre, her depth of knowledge is incredible. She has been incredibly supportive and has been crucial in his exam revision. Our son has autism which can cause certain difficulties but Eileen has navigated her way around this perfectly and has also become such an important mentor for him so we hope he will continue sessions through on some capacity his MA.
Have no hesitation with regards to contacting Eileen.

Eileen was a wonderfully inspiring tutor and what I have learned has stuck with me, and will continue to do so. It is impossible not to be impacted by her passion and expertise.

Eileen tutored our son, Theo, in Classical Greek for his GCSE, and we couldn’t recommend her more highly. She was incredibly supportive, organised and thorough in her approach, giving Theo both the confidence and the knowledge he needed to achieve an excellent result.

More importantly, she really helped foster his enjoyment of the subject, so much so that he decided to continue studying Classical Greek into the Sixth Form.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Eileen, and we are extremely grateful for all her hard work, encouragement and dedication. We would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for an excellent tutor.

When my daughter started her A level classical civilisation course without any prior knowledge of the subject, Eileen was super supportive in helping to bring her up to the level of her peers who had all studied the subject at GCSE. Eileen had a friendly approach to teaching and effectively broke down difficult concepts in a way that my daughter, who has autism, could understand. Challenging topics would be supplemented by additional notes sent to us from Eileen to help reinforce those difficult areas. Eileen also helped review my daughter’s past papers which was invaluable in preparing her for the final exam. With Eileen’s fantastic tutoring and support, my daughter achieved the required A level grades to progress to her first choice of university to study English Literature & Philosophy.
We thoroughly recommend Eileen in all aspects of tutoring - she is amazing!

Eileen helped my daughter with her GCSE Greek and A level Latin. She is a very patient, accommodating, and knowledgeable teacher. My daughter felt she was very good at explaining how to do translations methodically and break down the text into manageable chunks. She has extensive knowledge about Greek and Latin literature and historical context. She gave my daughter useful feedback on her essays and lots of extremely helpful resources to help with her A Level courses. My daughter was always pleased with her lessons and managed to get a 9 in both her GCSE Greek and A level Latin. I would definitely recommend Eileen to anyone looking for support with these subjects.

Eileen has been tutoring my son for his GCSE in Latin. He enjoys his lessons with Eileen and feels very motivated to do well. Eileen is clearly passionate about the subject and is extremely knowledgeable. She provides me with regular updates regarding my son's progress, which I appreciate. In the last year my son has grown in confidence. Eileen is clearly bringing out the best in him.
