About Katherine
I have my Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Connecticut as well as my Bachelor's in Chemistry from Williams College. Over the course of my studies, I have taught several semesters of organic chemistry lab and tutored dozens of undergraduate students in organic chemistry I and II. What my students have appreciated most about my teaching style is how I can make organic chemistry approachable for any skill level.

My biggest strength is my ability to reframe concepts in a way that students can understand. I'm a big believer in visualization and the use of chemical models, especially when discussing concepts like stereochemistry and reaction mechanisms. I also have ample experience at not just correcting students if they make an error but walking them through their thought process to identify where the error was made so they can avoid making it again in the future. Helping students improve their critical thinking is the most important part of being a tutor in any subject, but especially with organic chemistry. I can meet you on your level of understanding and help make organic chemistry make sense for you!
