About Emily
I have been a part of the mathematics education world for many years. I am a certified math teacher with 3 years of teaching experience and 5+ years of tutoring experience. I have a Bachelor’s in Mathematics and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. As a classroom teacher, I taught Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Trigonometry. I am certified in teaching all middle and high school level mathematics.
Beyond my traditional teaching experience, I have worked as a private math tutor for close to 10 years and have tutored all subjects from middle school math through Calculus. These one on one interactions with students have given me invaluable insight into common misconceptions students have with mathematical concepts and what methods are the most effective in addressing their questions. It has also allowed me to have open conversations with my students about how they prefer to learn and what resources are the most helpful to them.

I work with each of my students to set up an individualized tutoring plan. I can work with students on questions from their classes, provide additional practice, explore concepts in more depth, and much more.
I am certified in all middle and high school subject areas. My goal is to help students understand the "why" behind mathematics so that they can apply their knowledge to any problem, not just memorize a procedure. I want all of my students to feel success and confidence in their math abilities!
