About Santiago

I'm Santiago, a native Spanish speaker from Costa Rica with over 3 years of experience teaching Spanish in New York City — from secondary school classrooms to one-on-one instruction with adult learners. I hold a BA in Philosophy from SUNY New Paltz and have completed post-secondary coursework in education at Columbia University. My background in formal education means I don't just speak the language — I know how to teach it effectively, adapt to different learning styles, and keep students motivated. I'm patient, professional, and genuinely invested in every student's progress. Whether you're learning Spanish for travel, work, school, or personal growth, I'll make sure you feel supported and challenged at the right pace.

About the class

My lessons are built around real conversation from day one. Using the Natural Approach, I create an immersive environment where you learn Spanish the way it's actually spoken — not just textbook grammar. As a native Spanish speaker from Costa Rica with experience teaching in New York City schools, I tailor every session to your level, goals, and learning style, whether you're a complete beginner or looking to sharpen your fluency. Lessons are dynamic, engaging, and practical — you'll leave every session feeling like you actually made progress.
