Hi! I'm Shayna, a native Mandarin speaker from Malaysia and a university student currently in my semester break.
I enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and helping them build confidence in learning Mandarin. I believe that learning a language should be encouraging, interactive, and adapted to each student's pace. Whether you're learning Mandarin for school, work, travel, or personal interest, I will create lessons that suit your goals and make the learning process enjoyable.
Besides Mandarin, I'm also fluent in English, Malay, and Cantonese, so I can explain concepts in the language you're most comfortable with. I'm a patient, responsible, and friendly tutor who values creating a relaxed learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. As a native Mandarin speaker from Malaysia and a university student, I understand that every learner has different goals whether it's improving conversation skills, preparing for exams, learning Mandarin for work, or simply exploring a new language.
I customize every lesson based on your learning goals, pace, and interests, focus on building confidence through interactive conversations rather than memorization alone, use real-life examples, vocabulary, pronunciation practice, and simple explanations to make learning engaging and easy to understand.
A typical lesson lasts 30-45 minutes, but I can also offer 1 hour sessions depending on your preference and learning objectives.
Qualifications & experience:
1. Native Mandarin speaker (Chinese is my first language).
2. Fluent in English, Malay, and Cantonese, allowing me to explain concepts clearly to students from different backgrounds.
3. I have experience in teaching kids starting from 5 y/o at a local reading centre during my semester break.
My lessons are suitable for:
