About Charlotte
I am a native speaker of both French and English (I grew up in a French and British household) and an undergraduate student of French and Russian. With a background in languages and linguistics, plus my own experience of learning Russian from scratch, I really understand how challenging studying a foreign language can be. I have been tutoring for three years and have helped dozens of students achieve top grades in GCSE, A-Level, IB (A & B), AP, and university-level French. As well as exam preparation, I also work with students looking to improve their conversational French, whether for travel, work, or personal enjoyment. My lessons are designed to build confidence and fluency, helping students feel comfortable speaking and expressing themselves naturally in French. Alongside private tutoring, I have also worked for a large tutoring company, creating educational resources—so I know what actually works when it comes to language learning. I am passionate about helping students gain confidence in their French and making lessons enjoyable, engaging, and effective. I take a student-led approach, adapting each lesson to suit individual needs. At first, I observe the student’s strengths and weaker areas, then create a structured plan to help them improve. My lessons are flexible and tailored, and I am always happy to focus on specific topics that students want to work on. Many of my students have told me that I made them enjoy French—so much so that they chose to continue studying it because of my lessons! I have often received feedback that I immediately make students feel comfortable, which helps them build confidence and engage more fully with the language.
I have worked with students aged 7 to 60, supporting them at all levels of French, from complete beginners to advanced learners. Furthermore, I frequently help students prepare for GCSE, A-Level, IB (Languages A & B), AP, and university-level French exams, as well as those looking to improve their conversational skills. I also have experience tutoring students with dyslexia and am comfortable working with students with ADHD. Regardless of where you are with French, I have probably already helped a student in a similar situation to you!
