About XiaoHong

Hello! My name is Xiaohong, and I am a native Chinese speaker. I completed my undergraduate studies in China and later obtained a PhD in Life Sciences in Singapore.

After many years in scientific research, I would like to pursue Chinese tutoring as my second career and share my language and culture with others. Although I am new to formal Chinese teaching, I am patient, responsible, and enthusiastic about helping students learn.

Whether you want to learn Chinese for exam, travel, work, daily communication, or personal interest, I look forward to helping you begin your learning journey!

About the class

As a native Chinese speaker with a PhD in Life Sciences, I would like to teach beginners who have little or no prior knowledge of Chinese. My lessons will focus on building a strong foundation in Mandarin, including pronunciation, tones, vocabulary, basic grammar, everyday conversations, and simple sentence construction. I will adapt the lessons to each student's learning pace and needs, using examples from daily life to help students understand and use Chinese naturally. Students can also practise speaking and listening through simple conversations. My lessons are especially suitable for beginners, children and adults who want to learn basic Mandarin, improve everyday communication, or develop an interest in Chinese language and culture. Typically 45–60 minutes, depending on the student's age, level, and learning goals.
