About Sandra

I’m Sandra, a native Castilian Spanish speaker with a passion for sharing the beauty of the Spanish language and culture. Originally from the Basque Country, I’ve lived and traveled across Spain and Europe before making San Francisco my home. I specialize in creating personalized lessons designed to help you feel confident and motivated to speak Spanish fluently. I’ve had the joy of teaching Spanish to children through play-based lessons, incorporating music, dance, and kinesthetic learning to make language learning both fun and engaging. Whether in-person or virtual, my approach ensures that lessons are not only educational but also enjoyable and memorable. I understand that learning a new language can be challenging, but I’m here to guide you every step of the way. My teaching approach is built on empathy, encouragement, and real-world application, ensuring that students of all ages and levels have the support and tools they need to succeed. My goal is to empower you to not only learn Spanish but to truly enjoy the process and embrace its cultural richness.

About the class

As a native Spaniard, my goal is to create a supportive, engaging, and immersive environment that encourages learning at any level. Whether you're a beginner looking to understand the basics or an advanced learner aiming to perfect your fluency, I tailor my lessons to fit your unique needs and learning style.

Teaching Method & Techniques:
I use a communicative approach, which means that speaking and listening practice are central to every lesson. You'll be speaking Spanish from the very first session! My techniques include:

1. Real-life conversations to build confidence.
2. Interactive grammar exercises with practical usage.
3. Cultural insights to give context and make learning more relevant.
4. Vocabulary-building activities focused on your personal interests and goals.

A Typical Lesson Plan:
Each lesson starts with a brief review of what we've covered so far, followed by an introduction to new vocabulary, grammar points, or cultural aspects. We’ll focus on:

- Speaking practice (role-playing, discussions, or situational dialogues).
- Grammar and sentence structure, explained clearly and with examples.
- Homework or extra exercises tailored to reinforce what we've covered.
- End-of-lesson recap to ensure understanding and retention.

What Sets Me Apart:
What sets me apart as a tutor is my deep connection to the Spaniard culture, which I incorporate into lessons to make learning more enriching. I also emphasize building confidence in speaking, ensuring you feel comfortable expressing yourself in Spanish. My patient, encouraging approach makes learning enjoyable rather than overwhelming.

Who My Lessons Are For:
My lessons are for anyone eager to learn or improve their Spanish, whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced learner. I work with students of all ages and backgrounds, from schoolchildren to adults who want to learn for travel, career, or personal growth.
