About Melih
I am a native English teacher living in Curitiba, Brazil. Born and raised in London-England, I was brought up in both a multilingual and multicultural environment being half English and half Turkish. Thus, I am native in both languages and have an avid interest in learning languages and exploring different places and cultures around the world, the people who know me will tell you. I studied and received an A-level in English Literature at high school which demonstrates and furthered my fervent interest in the English language, which has resulted in me where I am today - teaching it. Going to university and having graduated with an LLB (Hons) Law Upper 2: 1 has nourished my knowledge and understanding of jargon, particularly in the legal sector. Currently, I am learning Brazilian Portuguese (intermediate) of my own accord in addition to teaching English of different levels to a wide variety of age groups including young adults, teenagers and children - catering to each student 's level and need. I firmly believe that having an open-minded, eager and friendly sense of personality has enabled me and my students to appreciate and enjoy the long, undeniably difficult yet rewarding process of learning English.

This very much depends on the level of each student's English. From individuals to small groups, beginner, intermediate or advanced. As outlined above, I like to get to know each of my student's - their personality, career and career goals and their sense of humor in order to facilitate their individual learning experiences. With beginners in English it will start with the alphabet, learning the basic greetings and enough to get by in an English speaking country, which by conviction - I know is better than simply jumping into hard grammar. From there on, the basics of grammar - ranging from the Simple Present to the Past Continuous and Modals of Advice. This is made possible in all formats; reading the grammar rules together, putting it into practice with reading activities with exercises extending up to making flash cards together and watching videos. If you have already had some prior experience of English, and want to pick up on and improve your skills, then the same type of theory and practice can be expected - including the learning and incorporation of cultural expressions into language use and on all fronts). As for our advanced and experienced English speakers, congratulations on hauling yourself up from the strains of the hard and cold ground called grammar! It is now time to focus on maintaining, learning and displaying our language abilities on all four sides - reading news extracts on space, sector areas such as economics and observing and analyzing different opinion viewpoints of editorials will be an innovative and innovative way to further and solidify your English. Other activities, by example, will include listening to experts from TED Talks who explain and educate us on topics relating to anything that you fancy, giving opinions and answers in written and oral form.
