I start with an assessment of the student’s understanding of fundamental maths though quizzes across a variety of topics. Then prepare my tutorial curriculum to meet the students’ unique needs in line their observed strengths and weaknesses. I treat topics beginning from the simple to the more difficult ones. And then would often leave the student with an assignment to practice and return during the next tutorial session.

I start with a conversation to learn about the student’s favourite and most difficult maths concepts. Then I go on to assess the student’s understanding of fundamental maths though quizzes across a variety of topics. This helps me understand the students’ strengths and weaknesses beyond what they communicate. Where there are no specific topics of interest, I prepare my tutorial curriculum to meet the student’s unique needs. Exercises are treated beginning from the easy to the more difficult ones to help the students appreciate the topic better. 95% of my classes would leave the students with an assignment to return during the next tutorial session. This would help improve memory and keep them practicing their lessons beyond actual tutorial sessions. I evaluate these exercises and give feedbacks to help the student improve. If I have to tell a story to better communicate a difficult topic, then I will. I can as well use common examples and events to bring my message home where necessary. Because my tutorial approach is student focused, there is something unique for everyone regardless of their current grade level
