About Jakub
I am a dental student and Old Boy from Southend High School for Boys. I have been a tutor in Billericay for over a year and have helped over 15 students achieve success with their GCSEs, as well as aiding younger students in improving their own grades in maths and the sciences. I am a native English speaker and well experienced in teaching.

I believe that, whilst repetition is a good learning tool, a child often becomes bored when forced to repeat the same exercise dozens of times with little reward or praise. I am happy to help with homework (but I rarely give the answer directly, instead attempting to direct the child to the answer itself), or classwork. When teaching, I try to keep up to date with what has been covered in class, and for this reason I can generally only focus on a single subject per hour of teaching. I will also need to be informed of what subject has been covered this week or the child needs help with in advance to better prepare questions and teaching materials.
Usually, when teaching, I use a combination of metaphors, drawings and (with higher level) mathematical formulae to explain concepts. We generally work through both the theory behind the concept, as well as how to apply it to questions, and then do a number of questions, with any questions we do not manage to complete being given as homework. This homework generally takes no longer than an hour, and I sometimes will split homework or direct to complete only specific questions.
