About David

I started tutoring in high school, and for the past few years, I have also worked as a student assistant at university. I have learned that teaching is a lot of fun, and I hope that my knowledge and experience can help people understand things that previously seemed like a load of strange, illogical rules. Statistics often seems arbitrary, but there are sound mathematical reasons behind it. My statistics courses were primarily focused on applications in the social sciences, so I have knowledge of both the applications and the underlying theory. Hopefully, I can use that to make things a bit clearer.

About the class

During a lesson, I answer the student's questions as much as possible; people learn best when they are curious and have thought about the question themselves. Furthermore, I let the student explain the material themselves to get an idea of how well they have understood it and to be able to focus on what didn't go so well. Where possible, I will try to explain why things are the way they are, so that it is not just about memorizing rules, but also becomes logical that things work this way. Once the problem areas are clear, we work on exercises together where I have the student explain why they do it that way. In this way, the student is thinking for themselves as much as possible, and I am not spoon-feeding everything. My lessons are most suitable for HAVO/VWO and bachelor students. Adults looking for a refresher are also very welcome.

Generally, I do not charge for travel expenses, but for a short lesson (less than an hour and a half) with 30+ minutes of travel time, I do charge an additional fee.
