About Lyra
My interest in Mathematics developed from a fascination with patterns, logic, and structured problem-solving. I pursued an M.Sc in Applied Mathematics to deepen my knowledge and enhance my ability to teach complex concepts effectively. Over 12 years of teaching, I have guided students from elementary school math to SAT math preparation and introductory Calculus, helping them progress from uncertainty to confidence. I approach teaching with patience, adaptability, and careful observation. I tailor explanations to each student’s learning style, using visual models, real-life examples, and step-by-step reasoning to clarify complex ideas. I encourage questions and foster a mindset where mistakes are opportunities for learning, helping learners develop resilience and self-confidence. Outside the classroom, I actively engage in mathematics through ongoing study, curriculum development, and problem-solving practice. Teaching Math is deeply rewarding because I see learners grow in clarity, independence, and logical reasoning. Helping students trust their own thinking and achieve their potential is the most fulfilling part of my work.

Mathematics becomes far more engaging when learners are encouraged to understand the reasoning behind every concept. My lessons cover elementary school math, middle school math, geometry, algebra, SAT math, and Calculus, emphasizing logical structure, clarity, and problem-solving strategies. I guide students step by step, helping them connect concepts and approach problems confidently. Lessons are calm, structured, and designed to foster curiosity while reducing anxiety around complex topics.
Lesson planning is tailored to the student’s level. Elementary school math focuses on number sense, arithmetic fluency, and interpretation of word problems. Middle school math introduces geometry, proportional reasoning, and foundational algebra concepts. Advanced learners work on algebraic manipulation, SAT math strategies, and introductory Calculus concepts, emphasizing accuracy, logical reasoning, and practical application. Carefully selected practice exercises reinforce understanding and build confidence.
Maths lessons also help students develop patience, focus, and resilience. As learners gain clarity, they become more independent and willing to tackle challenging problems. Many begin to view mathematics as logical, structured, and achievable. My goal is to help students feel confident, capable, and motivated to excel in mathematical reasoning and problem-solving.
