About Maya

I have a great deal of experience in tutoring a wide range of ages, and I prioritize connecting with my students. I recently graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry, and I am passionate about making math and the sciences accessible to students of all experiences and interests.

About the class

I teach biology, chemistry and math at a middle school or high school level. I have offered tutoring in these subjects for my peers, as well as younger students, since I was in high school myself, and I find it extremely rewarding to watch someone grasp material they've been struggling with.

As a tutor, I would offer personalized help to my students based on their goals: whether that's helping with homework and clarifying difficult concepts from class, or teaching more advanced topics to give them a head start among their peers. I can explain concepts from as many angles as needed, and provide practice problems for us to work through together to help the student acquire ease and comfort with the material.

It would be important to me that my students properly understand what is being taught rather than simply memorizing it, so teaching students how systems and topics connect would be a priority.

She went out of her way to meet our daughter's difficult schedule and was supportive and attentive to her class needs. My daughter clicked with Maya immediately, her warm demeanor and friendly and supportive tutoring methods paid huge dividends, we'll definitely be using Maya again once school starts in August.
