About Barb
I have ten years' experience in the classroom as a teacher, mentor and tutor. Passionate about helping students overcome obstacles, I treat each student with respect and give them the confidence and help they need to master their lessons. For five years I was Director of an intervention program for students who were at risk of dropping out of school. That was my favorite role I've ever had. It taught me how to adapt to each student's learning style, and to have the patience and perseverance to see all my students through to succeeding and overcoming their obstacles. I bring an element of fun to the classroom; the students knew I cared about them and that I wanted them to enjoy being in my classroom. They also knew I would hold them accountable to staying on task, which played a large part in their success.

I have demonstrated success in teaching students at all levels with learning disabilities. Some of my former students said they were shy and nervous about coming into a new classroom but once they attended my class, were relieved to see how comfortable and welcomed they were. They left my class with a higher level of self-esteem, feeling better about life, and proud of their accomplishments.
