About Sean
Hi! My name is Sean Tan, and I am a International Relations and History student at the London School of Economics. Before that, I was one of 14 King's (academic) Scholars at Eton College, placing first out of more than 600 students in the selection exams. At Eton, I earned four A*s at A-Level, eleven 9 grades at GCSE, and placed first in several sets of school-wide exams in a handful of subjects.
Over the four years I have spent teaching, I have mentored around a dozen students in a host of different subjects, including at the levels for primary school, 11+ selection exams, 13+ scholarship exams to prestigious schools such as Eton and Westminster Colleges, GCSE, A-Level, and university admissions. During that time, I have helped to secure 13+ academic scholarships and 11+ entry to Eton College for several students, receive numerous offers from Russell Group universities, and lift their predicted A-Level grades from As and lower to A*s, among other successes. Specifically for Latin, two of my students also earned As in their Eton and Westminster scholarship exams respectively.

To a large extent, there are certain key techniques to memorise to succeed at Latin which teachers may often gloss over. This may include observing common style points in Latin set texts, or sentence structures when translating from Latin to English. By teaching these simple methods, I seek to help students easily make remarkable improvements to their grades.
Lessons will consist of two parts: going over past papers (which they may have completed before the lesson), and covering any key topics which they might not have grasped beforehand, with homework assigned if it fits within the student's availability.
In terms of qualifications, I placed 1st in school exams twice (out of 260) and within the top five an additional four times, alongside earning a 9 grade at GCSE.
