About Eliza
Currently based in my native central London, I am an actor, director, award-winning theatre producer, audition panellist, and acting / dialect coach with 6 years experience of working in New York.
I also co-founded Studio Reels and use my experience to direct clients (primarily actors and musical theatre performers) in the Central London studio for their video vocal reels.
As an actor in the UK, I have appeared at The Savoy (West End), Almeida, Arcola, Lyric Hammersmith, Southwark Playhouse, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and on TV for BBC and Amazon. In the US, I have appeared in leading stage roles opposite Alan Cumming and Matthew Broderick. I earned my First Class BA in Writing, Directing, and Performance from The University of York and trained as a professional actor at AADA (NYC) for three years. I then earned an O-1 Visa for 'extraordinary ability in the arts' in the US.
As an accent and dialect coach, I have worked with clients in both London and NYC, including actors in 'The Play That Goes Wrong' (Broadway). I won the 2016 Lawrence Langner Award for Voice & Speech in NYC. I am proficient in IPA and also coach clients who learn most effectively by ear.

Having trained and worked professionally in both NYC and London, I know what it takes to succeed on both sides of the pond and help guide my clients using the best of British and American techniques. I tailor each session to the needs of the individual and can coach via Zoom or in-person.

Eliza’s experience in the corporate world made her an ideal coach for my team for major presentations we had in the pipeline. She really brought out the best in us - working on different presentation styles, building confidence for networking, empowering us to ‘own the space’ and be present whilst helping us to use subtle acting techniques for our key client meetings (e.g. breath work, posture, gestures, alignment etc.) I have no doubt that she has contributed to the recent team successes, and would definitely work with her again, both team-wise and on a 1-2-1 basis. Eliza delivered outstanding accent and voice training for a cast of young people in a production I directed. Eliza was well prepared and built effective relationships with the cast of 16-18 year olds very quickly. Her subject-knowledge and positive attitude was second to none. I couldn’t recommend Eliza Shea more highly.
Eliza's an excellent acting coach. Her friendly and inspiring approach has given me a great deal of confidence when approaching auditions. Her obvious skill and knowledge as an an actor herself, as well as her unique insight into how it all works in the US is also increadably useful and sets her apart from other teachers I've had.
