Learn Taekwondo near me in Varanasi with Expert Coaches

The martial art of taekwondo was born in Korea and later spread across the world.

• Ancient roots: Early Korean arts such as taekkyeon shaped the kicks and footwork used today.
• The name: The word combines tae (foot), kwon (fist) and do (the way), which sums up its kick-and-punch style.
• Modern form: Korean masters standardised the art in the 1950s and 1960s, giving it the structure we know today.
• Global spread: Taekwondo became a full Olympic medal sport at the Sydney 2000 Games, and it is now practised worldwide.

With a personal coach, you learn the culture behind the kicks as well as the moves themselves.

The word dojang names the place where taekwondo is taught and practised.

• Meaning: Dojang combines do (the way) and jang (place), so it literally means the place of the way.
• Etiquette: Bowing at the door is a common custom that shows respect for the hall and the master.
• Layout: The floor is soft to protect you during kicks and falls, and mirrors help you check your form.
• Key titles: The head instructor is usually called sabeom-nim, which is a title of respect.

With one-to-one lessons, you can practise the basics before you join a dojang class.
