About Sara
Sara, a Tehran-born musician, began her musical journey at the age of 11 at the Music School of Tehran, studying under oud masters Mansour Nariman, Hossein Behroozinia, and Mohammad Firoozi. She later earned her degree from Aali Music University and has since performed with esteemed ensembles such as Khorshid Ensemble, Maah (led by Majid Derakhshani), and Avaye Norouz (led by Siavash Imani), as well as internationally with the Majnoon Ensemble. From 2011 to 2014, Sara served as the oud concertmaster for the National Orchestra of Iran (Orchestra Melli Iran) under the direction of Bardia Kiaras and Arash Gooran, where she had the privilege of performing alongside the legendary Hossein Alizadeh. A passionate advocate for women’s artistic freedom, she founded Chista, an all-women’s ensemble dedicated to creating space for female musicians in Iran. Through her music, Sara continues to honor tradition while pushing boundaries, inspiring the next generation of musicians.
