About Kanika
Learn Mandarin from someone who has used the language and cultural intelligence in real professional environments — not just in a classroom.
I’m Kanika Arora, a China specialist educational consultant specializing in practical communication, Chinese language and culture, and China-facing professional skills.
I bring over a decade of professional experience working with leading organizations including KPMG, Microsoft, IHG, and on an outsourced Google project, where I worked directly with Chinese stakeholders and used linguistic and cultural intelligence in real business situations.
My professional experience has shown me that effective communication with Chinese counterparts goes far beyond knowing vocabulary and grammar. Understanding context, communication styles, cultural nuances, and relationship-building can make a significant difference in how business relationships develop.
During my professional career, my Mandarin expertise and cultural understanding contributed to Microsoft successfully pursuing and winning a China-based investigations project. My linguistic proficiency was also specifically recognized in connection with a forensic and investigations project, where my ability to work across language and cultural contexts supported the successful resolution of the engagement.
These experiences are a major part of how I teach today. I don't teach Mandarin only as an academic subject — I help learners understand how the language actually works in professional and cross-cultural environments.
Academically, I hold Honors and master’s qualifications in Chinese Language and Culture and have studied advanced Mandarin linguistics at Fudan University.

My teaching approach is practical, personalized, and goal-oriented. I believe that learning Mandarin should go beyond memorizing vocabulary and grammar—you should be able to actually use the language with confidence in real situations.
I’m Kanika Arora, a China specialist educational consultant specializing in practical communication, Chinese language and culture, and China-facing professional skills. My teaching methodology
I build a strong foundation in pronunciation, tones, vocabulary, sentence structures and conversational patterns, and then gradually develop communication skills through practical situations. Depending on the learner’s goals, I also integrate Chinese cultural understanding and professional communication.
How my classes usually work
Each class is customized to the learner’s level and objectives. A typical lesson may include:
