About Isla
My teaching journey began with a deep appreciation for how guitar connects people through music. I completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and later earned a PhD in Music Education, which strengthened both my performance and teaching knowledge. During my 9 years of experience, I have worked with students from many different backgrounds and skill levels.
I believe learning should be supportive, engaging, and goal-oriented. My lessons focus on helping students understand not only how to play but also why musical ideas work. This approach encourages deeper learning and greater confidence over time.
Outside teaching, I enjoy performing, arranging music, and exploring different guitar styles. These activities continually inspire new ideas that I bring into lessons. Helping students achieve their goals while developing a genuine love for music is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a guitar teacher.

My guitar lessons combine technical development with practical musical application. Students learn chords, rhythm patterns, strumming techniques, fingerstyle playing, fretboard knowledge, and song interpretation through engaging and structured lessons. I focus on making learning accessible and enjoyable for all experience levels.
As students advance, we explore improvisation, tone control, solo phrasing, music theory, and performance preparation. Lessons are tailored to individual interests and goals, helping learners stay motivated while improving steadily. Clear explanations and consistent guidance help build lasting confidence.
I support students who enjoy creative exploration as well as those who prefer structured progression. Every lesson encourages growth, independence, and musical expression. My aim is to help learners develop strong skills while enjoying the process of becoming capable and confident guitar players.
