About Ellery
Hi there! I’m a recent graduate with a degree in Mathematics (with honors), and I’m passionate about helping students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed in math. During college, I worked as a math tutor and a department grader, giving me firsthand insight into where students often struggle, and, more importantly, how to help them overcome those challenges. Through those roles, I saw how many students arrive at college without a strong foundation in math. That experience inspired me to start working with middle and high school students, so they can master essential skills early and approach future coursework with confidence and clarity. I bring patience, encouragement, and a deep understanding of the subject to every lesson. My goal isn’t just to help students get the right answer: I want them to understand why the answer is right, and have confidence in their ability to think critically and solve problems independently. I tailor each lesson to the student’s pace and learning style, combining explanation, guided practice, and independent problem-solving. In addition to explaining concepts, I regularly ask guiding questions to prompt deeper thinking. A Typical Lesson Check-in & Warm-Up (5–10 min): Review previous material or reinforce a concept with a short question. Concept Deep Dive (15-20 min): Introduce or explore the main topic with examples and discussion. Practice & Application (15-20 min): Work through problems together, then independently with support.
