About Derek
Currently in my second decade as a performer and educator, I have built a career spanning professional performance, directing, and arts education. During this time, I have performed at the National Theatre, collaborated with Academy Award-winning directors, and taught countless students who have gone on to successful careers across the performing arts industry.
For the past 15 years, I have worked with children and young people from all backgrounds across London, using the performing arts to build confidence, creativity, and self-expression. I am deeply committed to making the arts accessible to everyone and believe that no child should face barriers to participating in the arts. My work is driven by the conviction that the performing arts should be an opportunity available to all, regardless of background or circumstance.

With over 20 years of professional experience in theatre and film, and more than 15 years as a drama coach, I offer tailored tuition for actors and students of all ages and experience levels. My teaching is rooted in the Meisner and Stanislavski techniques, with a strong focus on truthful performance, text analysis, confidence, and individual artistic development.
Services include:
Audition and self-tape coaching for professional and aspiring actors
Shakespeare text analysis and performance coaching for GCSE students
Drama school audition preparation, including monologues, interview coaching, and workshop sessions
One-to-one coaching in acting technique, scene study, and performance skills
I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and work with students aged 11 and above.
Lessons are a minimum of 90 minutes to allow time for in-depth exploration, practical work, and meaningful progress. Whether you're preparing for an audition, developing your craft, or building confidence as a performer, sessions are tailored to your individual goals and experience.
