About Zara
Hi, my name is Zara! I’m very friendly and outgoing, and love helping students feel more confident in math. I understand what it’s like to struggle with math because it was not always my strongest subject in high school. That experience has made me more patient and understanding as a tutor, and it helps me explain concepts in a less intimidating fashion.
Outside of tutoring, I love basketball, soccer, and sports in general. I recently completed my first half marathon, and running has been one of my favorite activities recently. I also love fashion, music, movies, and spending time with friends. Some of my favorite music artists are beabadoobee and Lana Del Rey.
I currently live in Seattle and will soon be heading to New York, which I’m really excited about — especially getting to try all the pizza there!
As a tutor, I’m enthusiastic, encouraging, and always happy to work through problems together. My goal is to create a comfortable environment where students feel okay asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace. Whether math is already one of your favorite subjects or something you find challenging, I’m excited to help you improve and feel more confident.

I tutor mathematics from elementary and middle school levels through Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, and Calculus. My goal is to make math feel understandable rather than overwhelming by breaking difficult problems into clear, manageable steps.
My teaching method is based on identifying exactly where a student is getting stuck and building from there. I first explain the concept in simple terms, then work through an example step by step. After that, I have the student try similar problems while I guide them when needed. I also focus on explaining why a method works instead of encouraging students to simply memorize formulas.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of the topic and any questions the student has. We then go over the main concept, work through practice problems together, and gradually move toward the student solving problems independently. If the student is preparing for a quiz or exam, I can also focus the lesson around practice questions, common mistakes, and test-taking strategies.
What sets me apart as a tutor is that I am patient, approachable, and able to explain the same concept in multiple ways. I understand that students learn differently, so I adjust my explanations and pace depending on the student. I also have experience helping students with subjects including AP Calculus and other advanced high school coursework.
My lessons are best suited for elementary, middle school, and high school students, as well as students taking introductory college-level
