About Hunar
Hi! I'm a sixth-form student and enthusiastic Maths tutor who recently completed my GCSEs, achieving a Grade 8 in GCSE Maths with a score of 205/240 overall.
Having recently completed my own GCSEs, I understand that Maths can sometimes feel difficult or frustrating, particularly when students understand some topics but struggle to know which method to use or how to approach unfamiliar questions. I aim to make Maths feel more manageable by breaking topics down into clear, straightforward steps and giving students plenty of opportunities to practise.
I offer Maths tutoring for students aged 9–16, including SATs, KS3 and GCSE support. For younger students, I can help develop core skills and prepare for SATs through topics such as arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, problem-solving and reasoning. For KS3 and GCSE students, I can support students with understanding key topics, practising exam-style questions, improving problem-solving skills, revising for assessments and developing exam technique.
My approach is patient and supportive. Rather than simply showing students how to get an answer, I encourage them to understand why a method works so that they can apply it independently to different questions. I adapt the pace and difficulty of lessons according to each student's ability, focusing particularly on areas where they lack confidence.
I also understand that confidence can have a big impact on Maths. My aim is to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and learning from them. Whether a student needs help with a particular topic, wants to strengthen their foundations or is preparing for an exam, I will work with them step by step to help them make progress.
Alongside Maths, I also achieved Grade 9s in English Language, English Literature and History, and a Grade 8 in Business. As I will be starting sixth form in September, I am keeping my tutoring availability limited so that I can balance my studies with providing each student with well-prepared and consistent lessons.
I hold a current Basic DBS certificate and take the safety and wellbeing of my students seriously.

I take a friendly, personalised and exam-focused approach to tutoring. Every lesson is adapted to the student's current ability, learning style and goals, whether they are looking to build confidence, improve their understanding of a subject, complete homework or prepare for exams.
My lessons combine clear explanations with guided practice and exam-style questions. I encourage students to explain their thinking, ask questions and actively work through problems rather than simply memorising information. For English and History, I focus on essay structure, analysis, source/interpretation skills and understanding exactly what examiners are looking for. For Maths, I focus on developing strong fundamentals, problem-solving skills and applying methods independently. I can also help students develop effective revision techniques and study habits.
Lessons are typically one hour long, delivered entirely online on a one-to-one basis. I can use screen sharing and digital resources to work through questions together and provide immediate feedback throughout the lesson.
I recently completed my GCSEs and achieved Grade 9s in English Literature, English Language and Edexcel History, including 158/160 in English Literature, alongside Grade 8s in Maths and AQA Business. As I have recently completed these courses myself, I have first-hand experience of the current GCSE curriculum, exams and revision techniques.
My lessons are suitable for students in Years 5–11, covering SATs, KS3 and GCSE. I teach English and Maths for SATs, English, Maths, History and Business at KS3, and English Language, English Literature, Edexcel History, AQA Business and Maths at GCSE.
I aim to make every lesson encouraging, productive and tailored to the individual student, helping them become more confident and independent learners.

She is very helpful when tutoring because she explains very complicated and complex topics in a way that is easier to understand. She gently teaches yet she doesn't waste time. Within an hour of her tutoring i was able to understand a topic i had been struggling with for ages because she taught in a way that was me straight forward than the teacher in my classroom. Hunar also doesn't immediately put you down when you get a concept wrong; instead she tries to find the reason why you got it wrong , then she will talk you through what was wrong and how to solve it. Without her intervention i wouldn't have aced some of my GCSE's.
