About Harshitha
I am a high-school student working toward pursuing a biology major since middle school. I am highly familiar with the concepts of high school biology and want to extend my knowledge to other students to help them out. When I first started preparing to take the AP Biology exam, I suffered a lot because I was self-studying and had trouble understanding the concepts because of my young age. I had always wished I had some kind of tutor or teacher to help guide my way. Now, I am well-versed with all the concepts but I don't want other students to suffer as I did. That's why I decided to become a tutor here.

This is an 18 meeting lesson and will provide you with the foundation of High School Biology concepts. We will explore important scientists who laid the groundwork for the progression of science today. Be ready to learn the important techniques, methods, and principles of understanding the world around you. We will look into four major units of study: cells, genetics, evolution, and ecology. I will teach you the terminology, application to scenarios, real-world data analysis, problem-solving, and understanding the interrelatedness of concepts. This group will cover the main areas of study that are typically taught in a traditional class setting. This lesson does require you to complete activities or worksheets outside of class, which ranges from 15-60 minutes.
I will use a few different methods to teach you. First, we will be viewing concepts via powerpoint presentation. Then we will practice vocabulary via Quizlet and Quizizz. Next, we will apply our knowledge with problem-solving using worksheets, online annotation, games. Finally, we will review via discussion, video, and data analysis. I will provide you with the resources for the week of class. Materials vary per week. During the week of class, you will receive materials ranging from guided notes, a copy of the vocabulary, worksheets, and a hyperdoc page with website links. Additional resources will be available for further practice outside of class. We will interact directly on the Outschool Classroom and use other resources as supplementary tools.
The objective of this class is to cover the majority of the year of Biology concepts that you would typically encounter in a High School Biology setting. This class does not include lab work. Note: This class is rigorous and will cover a lot in 18 weeks. Attentiveness and effort will be expected to succeed and master the vocabulary.
