About Karim
Hello! Very nice to meet you. My name is Karim Garciayala and I am a Chemistry major. I am a part-time tutor at my university and I work closely with professors and students alike. I tutor for the General Chemistry courses. I have 3-years experience and I enjoy it for the most part. I plan onto going to graduate school for a master’s in chemistry and work in industry. I have experience working in laboratories and classrooms.
I also have research experience at a national laboratory level, having completed 2 internships at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
I can help with subjects such as mole conversions, limiting reagent, stoichiometry, titrations, thermodynamics, properties of solutions, percent composition, quantum numbers, SI units, Lewis structures, geometries, etc.

I like to go into theory, which then explains the processes for problems. An example would go something like, “Quantum numbers are a set of values that allow us to describe an electron’s wave-properties. We get quantum numbers from the Schrödinger equation, which solves for principal quantum number n, L, Ml, and Ms.”
My typical lesson plan is discuss theory, solve a problem with the student, then give a similar problem for the student to work on with me on stand-by if there are any questions.
I like to believe I have plenty of patience and I’m available most of the time. I also have a bank of plenty of original questions for students to work on. I am available for college students and high school chemistry students.
I am bilingual, so I can tutor in both English and Spanish!
