About Ali

My love for sociology began during my GCSEs, thanks to a teacher who made every lesson genuinely exciting. I loved walking into class knowing I would leave with a new way of understanding the world around me. That enthusiasm stayed with me throughout my A-levels, where I achieved the highest Sociology mark in my cohort, and eventually led me to study at the University of Cambridge.

I want to bring that same excitement into my own teaching. I believe sociology is at its best when it feels relevant to everyday life, rather than simply a collection of theories and names to memorise. My lessons combine a genuine passion for the subject with clear, practical exam guidance. Having gone through the process myself, I know that understanding the content is only half the challenge. Knowing how to apply that knowledge, construct convincing arguments and meet the examiner's expectations is what makes the difference.

My goal is simple. I want you to enjoy sociology as much as I do, while developing the knowledge, confidence and exam technique to achieve your best possible grade.

About the class

I build every lesson around your exam board’s specification (AQA, OCR or Edexcel) and your own goals.

Sessions combine clear explanations of key theories, thinkers and studies with plenty of practice: essay planning and writing, exam technique, and timed past-paper questions. I give detailed feedback on your written work so you can see exactly how to improve your grade. For beginners, I start with the fundamentals and build up gradually; for advanced students, we focus on critical evaluation and sharper arguments.

I have a Grade 9 at GCSE, an A* at A-Level, and a First for my Cambridge sociology dissertation, with 4 years of tutoring experience.
