*I have served in a variety of academic roles at two large (> 25,000 students) universities, including: full professor, associate dean of research, head of a department, and principal investigator at a national center of research excellence. I also have served as the director of a university-wide topical research group, deputy chair of a research-ethics committee, and as a senior member of university senate and various governing committees. From these positions, I have gained much valuable experience in teaching, supervising students, and conducting research.

* List of relevant university courses taught: Fiji National University (sole lecturer for all) - 1.) Biodiversity and Conservation Biology; 2.) Current Issues in Biodiversity and Conservation; 3.) Island Biogeography; 4.) Ecology; 5.) Advanced Ecosystems and Ecology; 6.) Research Project in Biology Major/Minor; 7.) Research Methods in Biology; 8.) Animal Behavior; 9.) Invertebrate Biology. University of Auckland - 1.) Pacific Biogeography and Biodiversity (co-lecturer); 2.) Animal Behavior (lecturer and co-lecturer); 3.) Behavioral Ecology (lecturer and co-lecturer); 4.) Discovering Environmental Modeling (lecturer); 5.) Introduction to GIS and Spatial Thinking (lecturer); 6.) Biometry (co-lecturer). University of Virginia (laboratory classes during my graduate studies) - 1.) Methods in Field Ecology; 2.) Aquatic Ecology; 3.) General Ecology; 4.) Environmental Biology and Ecology; 5.) Fish Ecology.

* Supervised/(co-) 21 PhD & 25 MSc students

Experimental design - experience with pre-, true-, & quasi-experimental design ∙ independent measures, repeated measures, matched pairs ∙ completely randomized ∙ randomized block ∙ full factorial, etc.
Field methods - animal capture & handling (e.g., mist nets, net guns, nooses, live traps) ∙ identification & marking ∙ wildlife telemetry (ARGOS & GLOBALSTAR satellite, GPS/GSM, radio-, light-based geolocation) ∙ species occurrence & population estimation (point counts, line transects, distance sampling, mark-recapture, camera trapping) ∙ habitat composition & structure metrics ∙ behavioral observations.
General analytical techniques - movement metrics ∙ biodiversity metrics ∙ inferential movement models ∙ population viability analysis ∙ resource selection ∙ habitat occupancy.
Statistics: univariate, multivariate, randomization, time-series analysis, and model selection methods (e.g., generalized linear models, mixed-effects models, tests for counts and proportions).
Geographic Information Systems - Experience with a wide range of methods for data capture, storage, manipulation, management, analysis, visualization, and presentation of spatial data in both vector and raster formats.
Spatial modeling - point-pattern analysis ∙ density estimation ∙ response surfaces ∙ cross-correlation ∙ spatial regression ∙ spatial interpolation/kriging ∙ network analysis ∙ species distribution/niche modeling (e.g., MaxEnt). I taught environmental (spatial & temporal) modeling at the University of Auckland.
Simulation modeling - spatially explicit agent-based.
