About Nicolas
Hello! I’m a Mathematics student at the University of Southampton, where I have achieved First Class Honours in both my first and second years. Before university, I earned an A* in A-Level Mathematics and was awarded a Bronze Medal in the Cyprus Mathematics Olympiad, reflecting my passion for the subject from an early age.
I love mathematics and enjoy helping others gain confidence and succeed in it. Over the years, I have supported classmates and younger students with their studies, and I will also be working as a tutor in mathematics workshops for first- and second-year university students at Southampton.
Beyond academics, I have developed excellent communication skills through public speaking, theatre, debating, and leadership roles. These experiences have taught me how to explain complex ideas in a clear, engaging, and approachable way.
I teach students from primary school through to first-year university, adapting every lesson to each student’s needs, whether they want to strengthen their understanding, improve their grades, prepare for exams, or challenge themselves with more advanced material.
My goal is not only to help students find the correct answers but to develop a genuine understanding of mathematics, enabling them to approach problems with confidence and independence. I strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and enjoy learning.

Every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to suit the student’s level, learning style, and goals.
Lessons are delivered online using an interactive whiteboard, allowing us to work through problems together in real time. I focus on building a strong understanding of mathematical concepts before moving on to more challenging questions, ensuring students gain confidence as well as technical ability.
Depending on the student’s needs, lessons can include:
- Explaining new topics in a clear, step-by-step way.
- Working through homework and assignments.
- Practising with past papers and improving exam technique.
- Creating personalised revision plans.
- Strengthening problem-solving and mathematical reasoning skills.
- Identifying and addressing areas that need extra support.
