About Herb
Alongside my studies, I'm a grade 8 pianist, and I've always loved music. Years of practice have taught me a lot about patience and how to continually improve at something, which is exactly the mindset I bring to tutoring, the importance of consistency.
I'm currently on a placement year in renewable energy in London, as part of my Master's in Theoretical Physics. It's given me real experience of using physics and maths outside of the classroom, and it's only reinforced how much I enjoy solving problems, whether that's at work or helping a student work through a tricky question.
I really enjoy teaching, and my background gives me a strong understanding of both the subject and how to explain it clearly. My goal with every student is simple: build their confidence, and help them actually enjoy the subject rather than just get through it.

I'm a patient and relaxed tutor offering lessons in Maths and Physics at GCSE and A-Level. I achieved 2 A*s and 2 As at A-Level, and I'm currently undertaking my Master's in Theoretical Physics, so I'm actively using and refining both of these subjects every day.
My approach is to break complex ideas down into easy, logical steps, always making sure to move at whatever pace my students are comfortable with. There is no such thing as a silly question (genuinely!), and I strongly encourage you to ask me anything, and I will try my best to answer.
My lessons involve lots of diagrams and visual aids, to offer the kind of understanding you can't just get from a textbook. I want students to leave every session not just knowing the answer, but understanding why we got to the answer.
