About Callum
I am currently in my final year of university studying Ancient History, but also have an interest and qualifications in English Literature. What drew me to teaching was my love of sharing what I had learned throughout school and university. I realised quickly that learning through conversation worked far better for me than being a part of a a large class in which the teacher is lecturing. I believe that many other students would benefit from learning this way, and so individual or small-group tutoring can be of great benefit, especially during these difficult times where students have missed vital teaching hours.

Most levels of education see the teacher lecturing at students, with little time for individual engagement. With my lessons, I hope to provide a space for open dialogue which flows more like a conversation as opposed to a lecture. I have found in my own experience as a student that continuous engagement allows for more information to be retained, and for the student to feel more comfortable asking questions without the pressure of being quizzed. This style of teaching also allows for lessons to be catered to the individual needs of the student rather than having a generalised approach. I have an A-Level in English Literature & Language, History and Sociology, as well as a BA in Ancient History following my graduation in summer 2022. With my experience and knowledge of being a student myself, I would feel confident teaching students currently doing their GCSE or A-Level in History or English. My lessons will aim to be an hour in length, but there is room for changing this depending on the needs of the student.
