About Joanna
Joanna Basile is an experienced Yoga teacher, coach & sober companion - working with professionals, entertainers and young adults. She continues her work as a music business professional behind the scenes, helping individuals realize their artistic potential.
She has practiced Yoga for nearly 20 years, and was certified as both a Recovery Counselor and Yoga Teacher, earning over 500 Yoga training hours and a Counseling Certificate with Distinction from UCLA. She recently completed The Science of Well Being at Yale University. Basile studied in LA under Eric Paskel MA, MFCC, CSC, founder of Electric Soul Yoga. Paskel is a student of Swami Parthasarathy, author, philosopher and founder of the Vedanta Academy near Mumbai, India. She currently practices with Jane House in Nashville. House teaches 'The Yoga of Embodiment', studying with master teachers Patricia Walden, Angela Farmer, Tony Briggs & Sofia Diaz. She holds a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, a B.A. in Psychology from Georgetown University.
When teaching individuals or groups, Basile uses a blend of movement, breath, philosophy, anatomy & the psychology of Yoga to create an experience for each student. Curated music, curiosity and themes of recovery & self realization make her classes introspective and healing.
Basile is a published writer and poet, co-authoring rock biographies and tour books. She has written music reviews as well as articles for the likes of W Fighter magazine, a publication for women athletes. Basile was awarded for creative excellence in writing in her college years, and is currently a special columnist for The Tennessean, a part of the USA Today network.
Basile hails from Chicago, lives in Nashville and misses the weather in LA.
