About Marcia
In our modern world, yoga is often identified with the physical component that it offers which can help you build strength and flexibility. It can also help you build a strong and peaceful mindset that goes beyond the physical and affects overall health in a positive way. I enjoy helping people find their own inner and outer strength by guiding them through the practices of yoga, including asana (poses), breathing techniques, meditation and sometimes chanting.
My yoga journey started in 1996 when I took my first class in NYC. I was immediately hooked and bought an unlimited monthly pass so I could take class whenever I wanted, sometimes twice a day. For many years after that, I practiced on and off privately and in group settings. I would always impart any knowledge I had about yoga to friends and family whenever I had the opportunity. My path did not lead me to teaching formally, though until very recently. After a full year of intense study, I completed my 200hr teacher training in December of 2018 and started teaching professionally in 2019. I am trained in the Krishnamacharya/TKD Desikachar tradition which is geared toward teaching one on one, and I also teach group classes at online and in person studios
