About Emilee
I think a lot of students begin to dislike Mathematics because they're being taught in a way that isn't suitable for them. My favorite thing about being a tutor is being able to show students that Mathematics can be fun and enjoyable if you look at it in the correct way.
I have known since I was in elementary school that I wanted to be a Mathematics teacher, as well as an Academic Decathlon & Debate coach for high schoolers. Therefore I've slowly been taking the appropriate steps towards licensure while still focusing most of my studies on higher level Mathematics. I started off by coaching competition teams such as UIL and Academic Decathlon in high school. Then when I graduated high school, I was able to work at the PreFreshman Engineering Program where I chaperoned and tutored 25 students. I am now tutoring while finishing my licensure.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, I worked at the PreFreshman Engineering Program in Texas for two summers where I chaperoned and tutored a group of 25 students in Mathematics and basic Python programming, and I assistant coached Mathematics for a Nationally ranked Academic Decathlon team. Unofficially I tutored 4 of my close friends in Calculus during college.

The first step is to get a general understanding of what areas the student wants to focus on for the tutoring period. For example, if the student is struggling with Pre-Calculus or Calculus then I will figure out if they need assistance with derivatives, integrals, or another section of the course. Then for each session, we'll work on each section of the course until the student is comfortable with that section. If the student expresses a lot of concern for a specific section that was previously covered we will revisit that section.
I have mainly worked with high school-aged students as well as first-year college students.

What specific portion of the class/idea are you actually struggling with? Is it the concept or the computation that is confusing you? Basically, you should have a general idea of what is confusing you so that you get the problem solved as efficiently as possible.
