About Matthew

Hey there! My name is Matt! I've been tutoring Math since 2016 on a part time and only recently decided to go full time. I recieved my Bachelors in Computer Science from UCF in 2016 and have worked in that space since then. My tutoring side hustle became a viable full-time job over the pandemic.

I originally started with friends and relatives in high school as a lot of my friends struggled in math so I ended up getting paid to tutor them. Then I just continued it through college.

I have no formal training as a tutor but since high school I have assisted fellow students and family friends with their math homework. I also ran a study group on campus during my college years.

About the class

I like to get a feel for where my students are at and where they feel the most comfortable and then I try to build from that base. Showing my students their strengths and affirming what they do well is a great way to start. Then moving to the areas of trouble once the student feels comfortable with what they already know.

High school and college students.

A big part of the teacher student relationship is the chemistry and interpersonal skills. I've seen a lot of really smart people struggle to tutor because they couldn't deal with the interpersonal communication and the patience it requires. Make sure you get along with your tutor/teacher and they commmunicate well.

I recently helped a family friend get caught up on his math and other subjects before the end of the semester. It was super rewarding seeing him take his schooling seriously and parce out all his work and schedule his week. It was great seeing him blossom academically.

I usually charge by the hour at $25/hr. Typically the "bang for buck" I can offer is well worth it. I pack a lot of development into each hour of work.
