About Jennifer
I have a love and passion for helping students find a true understanding of the material they're learning. I have worked with many ages and cultures and will tailor my pace and approach based on the student's needs.
I have been a professional tutor since my senior year of high school, but have always helped friends and family members with work that they found difficult. I am entering my fourth year in a Computer Science Bachelor's degree program with a minor in Mathematics.
My favorite part of tutoring is the "aha" moment that a student has when the material finally clicks. I also enjoy getting to know the students that I work with. I love being able to combine my passion for math and science with my love of education and community.
I worked as a Math Instructor in my senior year of high school and during the summers in college. This past year I became a computer science tutor through my university.

When working with a new student, I start by asking a lot of questions. My goal is to get an assessment of what the student already knows and then work from there. It is important to begin with the fundamentals and then move forward from there.
I have worked with all types of students! From grades K through college, different cultural and religious backgrounds, those who trying to get ahead to those who were a little behind, and even with some special needs students.
My advice would be to find a tutor that is not only knowledgeable in the area but one who you feel comfortable talking to. The student-tutor relationship is an important aspect of tutoring that is often overlooked.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should try to figure out exactly what it is that they don't understand. If you are able to verbalize which specific parts you don't understand, it is very helpful for the teacher. If not, that's okay too! We also know how to ask the right questions to figure out where you're struggling.
