About Emily

I am a college student that has loved math since I was a child. In my free time I will watch shows like Numbers just because the math is fascinating. I have worked with a variety of math levels and students since I entered high school. I enjoy helping other students learn to love, or at least appreciate, math.

I started tutoring my freshman year of high school when I volunteered at an elementary school. I helped 5th and 6th graders mostly with math and science. Then I was approached to help some of my sister's peers in middle school maths, and now in college I have tutored some high schoolers.

I have been an advanced math student throughout highschool. I took math up to AP BC Calculus and IB HL Mathematics. Currently I am in my second year of college working towards an applied mathematics and statistics major with a minor in data science.

I usually like to spend the first few sessions just helping with homework, reviewing in-class assignments and exams, and answering questions. Then as I get to know the student better, I will start to provide some of my own questions and materials that can further their understanding and maybe make the concepts more interesting.

I think the most important thing when looking for a tutor is not making just anyone work. it is your education, so I think it is important to find someone you enjoy learning with and that can work with your learning style.
