About Alyssa

I am a young professional from St. Louis, recently graduating from William Woods University with a degree in Equine General Studies. My passion is making horses more accessible to children and teaching. I offer riding lessons for beginners and up for all ages as well as day camps, training, and shows.

Becoming and instructor has always been a long goal of mine and was my plan for post college. I found a barn that I loved and in which allowed to me to start this teaching opportunity.

I have a degree in Equine General Studies from William Woods University. While working on my degree, I was thankful enough to have the opportunity to intern and be a working student at multiple barns in the area and from my home town.

My beginner lessons run an hour long. This allows me to have full attention on the new student. We go through grooming tools and techniques before starting to learn how to tack up and each of the pieces of equipment. Then, we head to the arena for a small riding portion. In the first lessons, we usually focus on basics such as steering, stopping, going forward, and start to learn our jumping position. At the end of the lesson, I usually give the rider a taste of what the trot feels like. After our ride, we do everything backwards and put the horse and our equipment away.

I've worked with students of all ages. My usual clients are younger children with an adult here and there.
