About Shasta
There are no great riders without strong foundations. The knowledge, hands on experience as well as riding skills create the best equestrians. Well rounded students are what I strive for. I have been teaching for 40 years. Two years were spent riding with Olympian col Alfred Kitts. I have had over 20 students make it to USPC championships in show jumping. Many champions in hunters and equitation as well with my students. Adults, children, beginners thru advanced, I welcome them all. I also went 3 years to Wilson college for equine and equestrian management.
I love watching the riders mature in thier riding and horsemanship. The best part is many become friends for life
When I was sixteen the manager at the barn I was working at offered me a junior instructor position teaching beginners and at summer camps and I have been teaching since
3 years Wilson College in the equestrian and equine management bachelor of science programs. I have taught for 40 years, worked in the racing industry, the saddlebred hackney Tennessee walker industry, I have worked at horse farms from New Hampshire to Florida. My daughter's went through the United States Pony Club from the ages of 6&9 to 20. We did 4H as well. My students competed in Jumper, eventing, dressage, gaming, hunters, equitation and polocross. For fun we have horse camped, fox hunted, drill team and hunter paces.

I start from the basics, grooming, tacking up, and riding following pony club standards. We have 9 levels that they work up through so we don't end up with holes in knowledge or skills
I have worked with students from 2 years of age to 83 years old. Some with natural ability and the rest with a passion for it. The people with the passion are the best when you love it, it is amazing how far you can go
Look for an instructor who's heart is in it for you and the horse not just the bottom line or the winners
Watching my one student who was so timid evolve into a confident, very competent young lady both with her riding and her zest for life

Working with Shasta was a wonderful experience. She is friendly, knowlegable, patients and skillful. As well as pleasant to be around. I would recommend to anyone.
And a pleasant to be withShasta always has confidence in and patience for her students. She also taught me so much more than riding skills. She taught me life skills, work ethic, and how to be my best person!
Shasta taught me how to ride. Still use her advice, instructions after 15 years.
Love all the people, the comradely, the beauty facility & of corse, the horses. I learned so much from Shasta who believed in me. She definitely made me a better horse person & I'm truly grateful. Miss you!
Shasta has been foundational to my riding life and to who I am today. I trained with her for nine years and have been friends with her much longer. She met me where I was at as a student and simultaneously pushed and challenged me to work hard and do better. Much of the discipline I have today in and beyond riding I attribute to her care. She's truly an amazing human being!
Great experience ,wonderful teacher! Always encouraging. I learned so much. Summer camps were always so fun and educating loved being in the barn it didn’t matter what I was doing.
Best trainer ever!
Mrs. Shasta has been amazing with my daughter. My daughter experienced a scary fall previous to coming to Diamond K and had not been able to get over her fear or ride her horse in almost a year. During her first lesson with Mrs. Shasta, she set on the back of their horse for almost an hour and cried out of fear. Mrs. Shasta stood their patiently and talked her through her fears. Now my daughter can ride/jump almost any horse asked to ride and she is back riding her horse that she loves dearly that she fell from. The riding lessons are only a small part of the reason we remain at Diamond K.
Shasta keeps her clients horse's well fed and kept. She manages her stables perfectly. She provides excellent and proper care for the horses she is entrusted with. She also is a very competent, well rounded, riding instructor.
Shasta is an old friend in the horse world & is extremly knowledgeable.
I love Shasta their instructor. Whether your new to horses or have been riding for years Shasta creates lesson plans for the horse and rider that are fun and challenging. She teaches valuable lessons that can be used in riding and in life. My favorite Shasta quote, “what is the difference in being brave and being afraid? Being brave means your afraid but you try anyway.”
I loved how much I learned from Shasta and how much she boosted my confidence.
I felt like I was apart of the family. I learned so much about horses both inside and outside of the arena.
Shasta is a great trainer
Great staff very knowledgeable
I rode with Shasta for a good 10 years when I was a kid/teen. She taught me most of what I know and opened many doors for me in the horse world. She will always challenge you and your horse to learn knew things and improve. She is also very good at coming up with different strategies to work with difficult or hot horses. Under her guidance I rode through the levels of eventing, show jumping, and the United States Pony Club. During this time myself and many other students represented our region in USPC Nationals several years in a row. You will definitely feel engaged and more knowledgeable after every lesson, not just the same old week after week you get with some instructors. I highly recommend her!
I rode under Shasta along with my granddaughter at wishing well stables. She was an excellent instructor. Patient, knowledgeable, reliable. Great experience. Very creative with lessons and patterns to keep both horse and rider engaged.
Friendly, knowledgable staff!
Shasta is an incredible instructor. Working with Shasta made me a better rider and a better person. I’m thankful for the influence she had on my life.
Great teacher; knows exactly how much to push her students without making them lose confidence. Acts as a second mother, which is a huge blessing in this sport.
Shasta always goes above and beyond for her students. She is not only a talented riding instructor, but a true friend, cheerleader, and sometimes life coach to her riders. She has always treated both my daughter, and myself as family.
Shasta and her team of trainers offer a great program on all aspects of equine/horsemanship. She has an amazing knowledge base and gives every student the opportunity to excel. My daughter learned , loved , and appreciated all aspects of her time spent with this outstanding trainer. Shasta Charles is the best of the best.
Professionalism of staff, quality of instruction, facilities.
Everyone was friendly and horse are happy and well taken care of. Shasta is an amazing trainer - she is positive and patient but also forces you to get out of your comfort zone when she knows you're ready.
The facility is beautiful. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Shasta Charles is a fantastic trainer. She makes you feel comfortable and intuitively knows how to get the best out of you.
