Jake is an incredible professional musician with an interest in all types of music. Even better, Jake is a great teacher. He immediately made my 7 year old daughter with her little ¾ electric guitar feel comfortable with him. They began with basic short rock songs. He was calm, patient, easygoing but encouraging, and always enthusiastic.

My daughter is now almost 15 and has been learning guitar from Jake for the past nearly 8 years. She now rocks a full size electric guitar! Jake keeps challenging her, while helping her develop her interests in singing and songwriting.

It has been fun to see the breadth of Jake’s teaching at his semiannual student concerts. He teaches adults, teens, and kids, many of whom have studied with Jake for years. They play acoustic and electric guitars. Jake can teach absolute beginners to experienced guitarists. I highly recommend him!

I have tried taking lessons twice before and it never stuck nor did I want to continue. The other teachers were skilled musicians but didn’t make me want to keep learning. Jake is brilliant musician and the best kind of teacher. He will listen and learn and then figure out what you want and need to know and take you there and he will figure it out before you do. You will get the most out of it if you share your thoughts about music and how it speaks to you. He is patient but encouraging and able to adapt any style with equal enthusiasm and competence. He encouraged me to sing and then write my own songs, two things I said I wasn't interested in. Didn't want to learn theory either but now I understand why all of these things make me want to play more and allow me to enjoy music more. He didn’t force any of this but led me to it, made me want to learn it. His enthusiasm for whatever you are into is inspiring. I started late in life on the guitar and now I know I will play until I can't. I'm hooked and Jake got me there. I have been working with Jake for over 7 years. Started off as a way to kill some time but taking guitar lessons from Jake changed my life, no joke. I may never play for a living but I will play because it is part of me now. Take lessons to learn some things and improve your skills but stay to take a journey. I did. Cheers.

Working with Jake was amazing! I've been taking lessons with him for about 5 years now and it's just been incredible. Jake is not only so knowledgeable about music but it also great at relaying that information. He's great at letting you learn what you want to learn and finding great lessons in even the simplest song. He's a great mentor and has helped me develop my voice, both in music and in real life. I've worked with Jake for nearly 7 years. He has so much musical knowledge and has been a great mentor that I look up to greatly. I would highly recommend Jake for your guitar lessons! I took three years of lessons (none prior) and I had an amazing experience thanks to Jake. He focuses on your needs and teaches at your own pace. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better guitar teacher. In fact, my teenage son became interested in guitar and is now in his fourth year.
