About Catherine
I have been teaching 20 years and received my English as a Second Language Teaching certification in 2013, in addion to Elementary and Spanish certifications. I have taught preschool children through adults and love it! The best part is seeing the progress my students make.
Music is a big part of my life and will be in the lessons when appropriate.
I enjoy helping others with their English and meeting their needs. I also look to exceed expectations.
As part of my teaching experience, I have worked with students who have many diverse learning needs. I have taken additional coursework in my graduate program to assist struggling readers at any level.
I have been teaching for 20 years. I started out teaching Spanish and grew to love second language teaching. I saw a need to provide English language instruction and brought me to to study in the local graduate education program over a decade after I began teaching. Music has always played a big role in my classes.
I attended a graduate education program at a local university where I studied to receive a NJ teaching certification in English as a Second Language in 2013. In addition, I took coursework to learn how to help struggling readers.

I get to know the student's needs and goals for wanting to learn English (or the parent's goals for the child) across the 4 linguistic domains - listening, speaking, reading and writing.
I have worked with a wide variety of second language students from preschool through adults, from beginning to advanced students. These students also have diverse learning needs to which I adapt.
I highly advise that they look for an experienced teacher who uses a variety of methods to help students learn their best, such as visual, musical, auditory and more.
