Hope worked with LGBT Youth Scotland on three projects in 2018 and 2019. Her role was to support LGBT+ young people aged 13 to 25 to explore aspects of identity and, using the work of a range of artists as a stimulus, to create their own pieces. The young peoples’ work resulted in a booklet to celebrate the queer community in Dumfries, a collaborative chalk art event and a book: ‘Life Stories’, which Hope designed and collated. Hope worked with great sensitivity to support the young people involved in the projects, many of whom lacked confidence in both themselves and their creative abilities. She used a wide range of approaches to engage young people with the creative process and drew out their potential with care. Hope encouraged young people to be curious and explore and this was both inspiring and liberating for them. The work that they produced was exceptional; surprising, moving, thought provoking, funny and they were proud to have produced it.
I would welcome the opportunity to involve Hope in our work with LGBT+ young people again in the future. Participation in the projects had a major impact on many of those involved, helping them to explore and validate their identity and develop confidence in their creativity.

Hope has a huge variety of experience, and worked really well with the young people in our groups. Hope was really friendly and approachable and has a clear passion that drives not only what she does but how she teaches and that drive and passion were what kept our young people interested and helped them to achieve their full potential.
