It is truly wonderful to be able to help people, to solve problems, to bring confidence. Whether it is for a specific acting requirement or for a more general life goal I can bring self-belief where once there was insecurity, I can bring joy to things that once cause fear, I can offer tools that will open doors where once it seemed they were closed forever. I can bring direction to those who have felt routeless and I can bring grounding to those who have felt rootless! I have worked to find these changes in myself and I love to offer the same to others.
I am an award winning British American Actress - most recently won Best Actress Award for 2020 Origin's 1st Irish Theatre Festival in NYC. I have 30 years of experience.
I trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art , (RADA), in London, and am now living in NYC working on and off Broadway and in TV and film, (most recently Madame Secretary and Wonder Woman). I have worked many seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company, (RSC) and Shakespeare’s Globe theater in London, as well as in most mainstream regional theatres in the UK and since moving here to New York I have worked at many of the best off Broadway houses as well as many of the country's top regionals.
I specialize in voice work, sight reading, classical or contemporary texts and dialect work, as well as general acting technique and building self confidence.
Many of my students refer to our sessions as being "like therapy"!

Ms. Pickup is one of the most selfless unique Coaches I’ve worked with. I started reaching out 10 years ago with classic monologues,then it was short stories which she read entirely & gave me sound critique on rhythm style etc. Her honesty has made me a better writer & listener.Recently she’s coached me on voice over work which I hadn’t done in a while & she totally turned me around 180 without making me feel insecure.Took me out of my comfort zone & made me into a person from a Robot.
Don’t let her Fabulous elocution from Britain scare you off as she can turn on a dime & be from anywhere & teach you too....I cannot recommend too highly Rachel Pickup for someone who wishes to experience some truly top shelf acting coaching. I am an experienced actor myself and my work has been transformed and kicked into a sharper, clearer and more detailed level on numerous occasions when I have been lucky enough to work on scenes and monologues with her. She is utterly rigorous in approach, has the sharpest eyes, ears and mind I know of in the business and a kindness, sensitivity and wit that is rare in this world. Add that to her rich and varied background as an actress of no meagre reputation, she makes an 'effin formidable coach. I'd say any actor at any level will benefit from time working with her. Book her while you can.
SHE CAN DO ANY ACCENT! HOW?!?!??! And she can teach me how to do them! I go to Rachel every time I have an audition that requires a dialect! SHE IS AMAZING
Noone can open Shakespeare up like Rachel can. I was terrified of Shakespeare before. At school I was made to feel I could not do it but i can - Rachel made Shakespeare not only fun but I now feel like it is for people like me who have always been scared of poetry or classics. She found me monologues that were right for me and I feel so confident when I have to do them in an audition.
I don't know how she does it but she takes all my doubts away. She knows JUST what to say and how to get me out of my head and be in the moment. I love how specific she is and she can get me in shape for an audition in no time at all. She is the best acting coach I have ever had, hands down.
