About Samuel

I'm a passionate language learner and experienced tutor with a background in education spanning around 12 years.

I've been learning Spanish since GCSE and went on to study it at A level. My interest in the language eventually took me to Argentina, where I spent four years living in a city where very few people spoke English. I now live in Spain, where I continue to use Spanish every day. I also hold the DELE B2 qualification.

Alongside my experience learning Spanish, I've taught English in Argentina and have taught piano to Spanish-speaking students. I've also spent around 12 years teaching piano, helping students of different ages and abilities develop their skills and confidence.

As someone who has experienced the challenges of learning another language first-hand, I understand the importance of clear explanations, consistent practice and building confidence. I enjoy helping others learn new skills and find it rewarding to see students make progress.

I'm looking forward to helping you develop your Spanish, whether you're working towards your GCSEs, learning for an upcoming trip or simply want to feel more comfortable speaking the language.

About the class

My lessons are tailored to each student's level, goals and learning style. Whether you're preparing for your GCSE Spanish exams, starting from scratch or looking to become more confident speaking Spanish before travelling, we'll work together to help you make steady progress.

For GCSE students, I can help you strengthen your grammar, expand your vocabulary, improve your listening comprehension and develop your speaking skills. We'll work through challenging topics at your own pace, with clear explanations and plenty of opportunities to practise.

If you'd like to improve your conversational Spanish, we can focus on speaking more naturally, improving your pronunciation, understanding everyday expressions and building the confidence to communicate in real-life situations.

My teaching approach combines structured learning with practical exercises and conversation. As an experienced piano teacher, I've spent around 10 years developing ways to explain difficult concepts clearly, adapt to different learning styles and help students progress at a pace that suits them.

As an English speaker who has learnt Spanish and lived in Argentina for four years, I know that understanding a language and speaking it confidently are two very different things. My lessons aim to bridge that gap through clear explanations and plenty of practical conversation.

All lessons take place online and are tailored to your individual needs, allowing us to focus on what matters most to you.

I can’t recommend Samuel highly enough! After many years away from playing the piano, he has helped me rediscover and reignite my love for music. I have thoroughly enjoyed learning with him, and his approach has made playing the piano a real pleasure again. I’m so grateful to have found a teacher who has helped me reconnect with something I’ve always loved, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to learn or return to playing the piano!

Sam has been my piano teacher for a number of years now and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better one! He’s helped me so much with finding my inner musician and has completely changed my confidence in what I’m capable of doing on the piano.

Over the years, he’s taught me so much across a huge range of areas from ear training, sight-reading and technique to improvisation and musicality. He’s taught me how to think about and approach music with much more freedom and creativity.

He’s encouraged me to explore things I never thought I was capable of and has helped me break through so many of the limitations I had placed on myself. I’m incredibly grateful for everything he’s taught me and the impact he’s had on my playing and confidence. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough!

I’ve been having piano lessons with Sam for the past 4 years, both online and in person. Prior to which I was a complete novice to both piano and music, at age 36. Within a relatively short period of time I’ve been able to learn some technically complex pieces, how to read music, picked up a bunch of pop songs, and am really enjoying regular practice and lessons. A huge part of that has been Sam’s dedication, enthusiasm, passion for piano and music, and patience with a teaching style he adapts for the needs of his students. I cannot recommend him highly enough, and am really pleased I took that initial step.
