About Gisela
I’m a public policy professional with a BA in Sociology, Philosophy and Ethics and an MA in Public Policy. I currently work in a senior policy role in government, where my day-to-day work involves research, critical thinking, problem-solving, writing and communicating complex ideas to a range of audiences.
I’ve always loved learning and discussing big ideas, particularly around society, ethics, inequality, feminism and how public policy shapes people’s lives. I also genuinely enjoy writing and helping others work out what they want to say and how to say it clearly.
I know that academic ability doesn’t always look the same for everyone, so I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where there are no silly questions and students feel comfortable saying when something doesn’t make sense. I’m patient, approachable and happy to adapt my teaching style to the individual.

My lessons are tailored to you, your goals and the way you learn best. I can support students across sociology, philosophy, ethics, feminism, English literature and public policy, as well as with university-level essay writing, academic skills and general study support.
I particularly enjoy helping students take complex ideas and turn them into clear, well-structured arguments. Depending on what you need, sessions might involve exploring a topic or theory together, planning and structuring an essay, critically analysing academic material, reviewing written work and feedback, or developing your confidence in a subject you find challenging.
I have a BA in Sociology, Philosophy and Ethics and an MA in Public Policy, alongside several years of professional experience working in government policy. This gives me a strong academic grounding in the subjects I teach, combined with practical experience of research, critical analysis, evidence-based argument and communicating complex ideas clearly.
