About Arshia
Hi, I'm Shia! A Melbourne-based yoga teacher with a passion for sharing the transformative power of yoga with students of all backgrounds and experience levels.
Growing up with an Indian background, elements of yogic tradition were woven throughout my childhood and it was a personal practice I deeply enjoyed long before I ever considered teaching it. My journey into teaching began in 2018 when I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Akshi Yogashala in India. What started as a deepening of my personal practice quickly became a calling. I returned to Melbourne and began teaching across a number of studios. Since then I have continued to expand my knowledge through further training in Yin Yoga, Chair Yoga and Sound Healing.
I am drawn to teaching because I have experienced firsthand how yoga can create profound shifts...not just in the body, but in the mind and spirit. I love meeting students where they are and helping them build a practice that serves their life. Seeing a student find ease in a pose they once found impossible, or leave a class visibly calmer than when they arrived, is what keeps me coming back to the mat as a teacher!
Outside of yoga I am a professional Latin dance performer and instructor (separate Superprof listing for dance instruction). This background has given me a deep, intuitive understanding of how the body moves and where it holds tension, which I bring into every class I teach.

About My Classes:
I offer traditional Hatha, Yin and Slow Flow yoga classes for students of all levels, from complete beginners to those looking to deepen an existing practice. My classes are fully tailored to each student's individual goals so whether that's building strength and flexibility, improving posture, managing stress, or simply developing a sustainable movement practice.
Each session is shaped around what you want to get out of it. For students interested in the broader tradition of yoga, I can incorporate pranayama (breathwork), meditation and yoga philosophy to create a more holistic experience. For those who prefer to focus purely on the physical practice, sessions can be structured entirely around asana and movement.
Who My Classes Are For:
My classes are suitable for adults of all ages and fitness levels. I particularly enjoy working with beginners and those returning to yoga after a break, as well as students dealing with stress, tension or limited mobility who are looking for a gentler, more mindful practice. I am trained in Chair Yoga and can adapt sessions for those with injuries or physical limitations.
What to Expect:
A typical class runs for 60 minutes and is tailored entirely to the student's needs, goals and experience level.
My Qualifications and Experience:
I hold a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification from a reputable yoga school in India and have been teaching across Melbourne studios, gyms and schools since 2018. My continuing education includes Yin Yoga Teacher Training, Chair Yoga Teacher Training and Sound Healing. I also bring a professional background in Latin dance, which deeply informs my understanding of movement, rhythm and the body.
