About JenniferFromChicago
I love having a positive impact on the lives of others. Before becoming an English teacher, I worked for over 20 years as a Psychologist before transitioning into teaching English as a foreign language. I have a Master of Arts in Psychology as well as a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. I love everything about teaching and truly enjoy the process of assisting my students in improving a skill that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. Traveling brings me joy. I love experiencing different cultures as well as meeting people from all walks of life. There are so many beautiful, diverse cultures and people; I want to experience as much as possible in this life. Food is also a big deal to me. I am a dedicated foodie.

During my English classes, I always explain everything in an easy-to-understand, low-pressure, relaxed format.
My classes are creative, interactive, valuable, and filled with purpose. My teaching style is relaxed, while still maintaining a laser focus on identified goals of language learning. I believe in focusing on meeting the student where he/she is and building language skills from there. Initially, I like to gather information regarding goals and desired outcomes from the student regarding language learning. From there, I like to focus on ensuring the student has a certain level of comfort.
I am patient and encouraging which is key when creating an environment of comfort for any language student. I have the ability to make sure that the student stays focused on the task at hand, while still experiencing a fun, creative, and interactive session.
I have specific lesson materials that I utilize for our time together but also find value in free conversation. Also, I encourage you to actively participate in your learning plan by telling me your goals and desired outcomes so that we can work together as a team to get you to succeed. If you have a certain topic in mind or an article that you would like to read, for example, bring it to class and that will be our focus for the lesson. Don't worry though; I always have something prepared that is interesting and thought-provoking.

Perfect! Jen is detailed but not overwhelming, speaks in a clear easy to follow voice, and is a patient and understanding teacher - my niece is very shy and she feels at ease in the lessons which is great! Also, very easy to schedule with and responds quickly and professionally which is important.

I highly appreciate Jennifer for our classes, I've started to feel the progress within 2 lessons. Jennifer has her special methodical way how to either increase your English level or to assist you with the exam preparation! I've experienced classes with 5 tutors, however, Jennifer is the best tutor I have ever had. She makes the special atmosphere throughout the whole class.
